Booneanza Official Rules

The Booneanza is a skill-based treasure hunt sponsored by the Boone County Historical Society, the “Sponsor.” The Booneanza contest, the “Contest,” begins April 25, 2026 at 9am Central Time and ends when the Treasure is discovered. The Contest consists of a sequential series of 8-12 “Puzzles.” Solving all of the Puzzles will lead to the Treasure. The contest is designed such that the Treasure cannot be accidentally discovered, nor can the Treasure be claimed without completing all of the Puzzles. The first Contestant who successfully solves all of the Puzzles and arrives at the Treasure in accordance with these rules shall be the Contest winner and receive the Treasure.

ELIGIBILITY:  Only U.S. residents age 18 and older are eligible to enter. The entry fee is $100. Upon payment of the fee and signing of these official rules and required releases, an individual shall be declared an eligible Contestant. Officers, directors and employees of Sponsor and Sponsor’s affiliates involved in any aspect of the Contest (all such individuals and entities collectively referred to herein as the “Contest Entities”), and the immediate family members and/or those residing in the same household of such Contest Entities are ineligible to enter the Contest.

The Treasure and all puzzles are located in Boone County, Missouri.

In the process of solving the treasure hunt it will NEVER be necessary to enter a private residence or trespass on private property.

Any Contestant who trespasses on any property or injures or destroys any property shall be immediately disqualified from the contest.  The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any such trespass, injury, or destruction of property.  In the event of disqualification, the entry fee shall not be refunded.

  1. HOW TO ENTER:  Register by clicking this link. Each entry will cost $100 USD. The entry fee proceeds shall go entirely to the Sponsor. Entry must be made by the entrant only through the entry method described above. The Sponsor shall not be responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or used in the Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in processing of the entries in the Contest.  The Sponsor assumes no responsibility or liability for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries.

  1. TREASURE: There is one (1) Treasure available. The Treasure consists of a chest containing a single natural solitaire diamond valued at over $10,000 by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) prior to the hiding of the treasure. Due to market fluctuation, this value may change prior to discovery of the treasure. The Sponsor shall not be responsible for any change in said value.

  1. CLAIMING THE TREASURE

Review of the completion of Puzzles shall be at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.

Contestants who solve all of the Puzzles shall contact the Sponsor. Thereafter, specific instructions for accessing the Treasure shall be provided. In the unlikely event of a tie, possession of the treasure shall be settled by a public flip of a coin.

Contestants agree that the name and hometown of the Contest winner shall be publicized.
